How to troubleshoot incorrect salaries in Ravio

Salary issues can be caused by many different factors. In this guide, we have broken down each issue one by one to help you resolve these.

How does Ravio calculate salary?

If you are integrated with your HR system, Ravio pulls 4 key fields from your HR system and uses these fields to calculate the full time salary. Otherwise, these need to be provided in a manual upload.

Pay Rate

This is the salary for each employee.

Pay Currency

This is the currency that you pay your employees in.

Pay Period

This is the period of time that the pay rate corresponds to.

Full-time equivalent

This is the % of full-time equivalent that an employee works.

The full-time equivalent annual salary is then calculated using the below formula:

Pay Rate * Annual Multiplier * FTE Multiplier

Please see below for a guide per issue.

An employee's salary is too high

This can be caused by the system thinking the salary is a monthly salary when in fact it is a yearly salary. It will then multiply this by 12. The best way to negate this is to ensure that in your HR system, the field containing how often this is paid is complete.

If the issue still persists, we may need to recalibrate the system to read a different field for salary. In this case, please contact support.

An employee's salary is too low

This can be caused by the system reading a monthly salary as a yearly salary, and not applying a multiplication. Just like the above issue, this can be caused by missing data, either as a result of our system not reading essential data or data missing in the HR system for this employee. If there is not data missing, then Ravio support may need to reconfigure our integration with your HR system.

There is no salary at all for one / some employees

Check your HRIS and make sure the data is populated, or alternatively check the data that has been submitted via manual upload. If the data is populated, then Ravio support may need to reconfigure our integration with your HR system.

You can also compare an employees record that does have a salary against an employees record that doesn't have a salary. It could be caused by an essential field missing, such as pay rate, currency, pay period or full-time equivalent. This may help investigate the cause of the issue.

There are no salaries for all employees

In the event that there are no salaries for any employees, this is most likely due to a configuration error with your integration or manual upload. If this occurs, please check that Ravio has all the correct permissions for salary (if Ravio is integrated with your HR system)
